You did right in solving the quitaadrc equation.You might not be acquainted with simplifying fractions that has square roots in it. So the problem lies therein.What is sqrt 24a^2 ?Break it up into sqrt4a and sqrt6a. If you like, multiply them together back and you will get sqrt24^2.And what is sqrt4a? It\'s 2a. You can\'t square root 6 to get an exact integer, so leave it as sqrt6a.And that\'s the trick to simplify a square root.So you have -8a +/- 2a x sqrt6a all over 4a^2Now factorise the numerator 2a(-4 +/- sqrt6a) all over 4a^2= -4 +/- sqrt6a all over 2aThere.

Solve it Like this .Take the time taken by Father to cross the whole street be t1 mannid that by son to be t2 mannid the length of the street to be xnow we have45*x + 45*x = x t1 t2thus we have45 / t1 + 45 / t2 = 1Now formulating the second case .t2 = t1 + 35substituting this in the previous equation . we get .45 + 45 = 1 - -t1 t1 + 35upon further solving this would yield a quadratic equation and solve it to obtain t1 .From which you can get t2 as t1 + 35 Thats it I am assuming that you are not small to be unable to solve this simple quadratic equation . And even if you are one you can get it solved by me.. Just email me in that case Go ahead enjoy .
